Groups See Disappointment, and Hope, in President's 2011
Budget
A
snapshot of reactions from community Schools, summer learning, parent,
education groups on the President's FY2011 budget request. While all applaud
the budget's increase in education dollars, groups registered concerns about
program cuts or freezes, consolidation of programs and a movement to more
federally-run competition for funds that are normally allocated to states by
formula. All three issues were hit in the budget recommendations for the 21st

Obama Budget Proposal for Afterschool Will Leave Millions of
Youth At-Risk
February
1, 2010, the President's FY2011 budget proposal was released. The Afterschool
Alliance issued a statement expressing concern over the potential reduced
funding for quality before-school, afterschool and summer learning programs.
