The 21st
Century Program will implement the 2010 Summer Enrichment and Recreation
Program at Penn Wood Middle School from July 28 – August 5 on Monday-Thursday
from 7:30 Am to 12:30. Students participating in this program will receive
restoration credit in the subjects of Algebra 1 and Geometry for 9-10 grade
students and Math and English for 7th
and 8th grade
students if they complete a minimum of 45 instructional hours with the use of
PLATO technology. The program will also offer students breakfast, lunch and
recreational activities. The recreational activities will consist of sports,
games and fitness. The recreation component of the program will extend beyond
the 12:30 ending time in which students will have access to recreational
activities until at least 3:00 pm on most days. Students can register for this
program at Penn Wood Middle School on June 21-23, from 7:30 AM -1:30AM.
Also, the 21st century Program will implement a GED preparation course for adults in the William Penn School District Community. This course will offer remedial assistance for adult students to prepare them for taking the state exam. Although the GED preparation course is free, it is required that participants attend the program regularly and sign up for the test which will be the financial responsibility of each participant. The program will be held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the conference room at the Administration Building, from June 25 – August 18. There are limited space available. The first 25 participants will receive free instructional materials.
